 | The Team
The team was started in 1993, by step dancers wanting to try the exciting style of rapper.
Being all women we did not try to copy the traditional dance teams too closely, but
decided to develop our own dances. We worked with several members of High Spen Blue
Diamonds, including Ricky Forster and used many of the High Spen figures as the basis for
our own dances.

 | Competitions
We won the Open Class (Own Dance) at the
Dancing England Rapper Tournament in our first year of dancing, and again in 1996. This
qualified us to enter the prestigious Premier Class, which we won in 2001. Our melodeon
player Chris Metherell won Best Musician in the same year.

 | Costume
Short Circuit perform in
eye-catching short black skirts which swing out as we twist and turn through the dance.
This is not the traditional white shirt and britches costume of most rapper teams,
but then we are not an ordinary rapper team! The dramatic black of the costume is
enhanced by the sparkle from holographic sequins on our costume and belts. On some
of the costumes we have added electrical symbols in keeping with our name.
